Paper of the Month Award, October 2020

The October Paper of the Month, awarded by the Medical Faculty, University of Münster goes to Dr. med Alexandros Rovas (first author), Univ.-Prof. Dr. med. Hermann Pavenstädt (co-author) and Prof. Dr. med. Philipp Kümpers (last author) for the publication “Microvascular dysfunction in COVID-19: the MYSTIC study”. Univ.-Prof. Dr. med. H. Pavenstädt and Prof. Dr. med. P. Kümpers are principial investigators in the Clinical Research Unit and Dr. A. Rovas receives funding for a pilot project within the CRU.
The publication fits to the translational approach of the clinical research unit and the data clearly provide further evidence for the importance of systemic microvascular dysfunction and glycocalyx damage in COVID-19.
