2 million patients are treated in intensive care units in Germany every year. Many of these patients are treated there for long periods of time because of organ failure, either after major surgical interventions or secondary to other diseases. The Post ICU Care at the University Hospital Münster specializes in the treatment of long-term effects after a long intensive care stay. The focus is less on the consequences of the primary illness than on the chronic illnesses that result from intensive care medical conditions.
The goal is good and comprehensive care in order to prevent complications and to allow everyday life to be as normal as possible.
